Annuals

Planting annuals in beds or pots marks the beginning of a season-long show of eye-catching flowers and leaves. Annuals race through the growing season, unfurling flowers and colorful foliage until frost arrives on the scene. Knowing when to plant annuals helps get the seasonal show off to a solid start.

Below are our top 3 picks of Annuals

Pansies

PANSIES

come in an endless variety of colour combinations, many of which have markings called “faces”. Mini-pansies are heavy bloomers that often reseed. Perennial forms are often called violas.

Alyssum

SWEET ALYSSUM

is a delicate carpet of tiny flowers with a subtle, sweet scent. The low-growing foliage is covered by flowers for much of the growing season. Sweet Alyssum is very easy to grow, from plant or seed. It is a cool season flower that can be set out in early spring. In frost-free climates, Sweet Alyssum can also be grown throughout autumn and winter. Most varieties will fade in the heat but bloom again in the autumn.

Petunia

PETUNIA

is genus of 20 species of flowering plants of South American origin. The popular flower of the same name derived its epithet from the French, which took the word petun, meaning “tobacco,” from a Tupi–Guarani language. An annual, most of the varieties seen in gardens are hybrids.
